While the draw to Orlando as home to numerous theme parks and attractions is undeniable, don't rule out a trip to Tampa to take in Busch Gardens. Indeed, Busch Gardens has been a major Tampa theme park attraction for longer than Disney World by over 10 years.

Their successful recipe includes thoughtfully intertwining zoo-type exhibits with thrill rides and attractions. This combination can also be seen at any of the SeaWorld parks, as they owned by the same company.

Restaurants

Columbia Restaurant
This is the 1905 Original - now with several locations throughout Florida - with a large and diverse dining area. Featuring Spanish cuisine along with a few individual - and now classic - dishes. The setting, atmosphere and entertainment transport the senses to the far reaches of the Spanish realm. 2117 East 7th Avenue in Ybor City.

Places to Stay

The Westin Tampa Harbour Island
In the heart of Downtown Tampa and a few steps over the bridge to the Convention Center, this 300 unit large-scale hotel appears more office complex than hotel and features all the amenities the typical business travel is accustomed to. 725 South Harbour Island.

Attractions

Adventure Island
Themed water park with Key West, Florida template. Sister to the famed Busch Gardens - located next door - this water park offers a wide range of rides and attractions that are suitable to anyone not allergic to water. Idle the day away or get pulled into the "Riptide" - your choice. 10001 North McKinley Drive - adjacent to Busch Gardens.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
For the money, Busch Gardens and SeaWorld offer pretty good deal. With one of the better zoo and animal parks to be found, this park strikes the right balance between themed rides (some very thrilling) and animal park. 3000 East Busch Blvd.
